The Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section answers some of the most commonly asked questions Palm Island Transit staff receives. Please check this section if you have questions about Palm Island Transit Ferry and it's operations.

Q: Where is the Palm Island Transit office?

Q:What are the Ferry hours?
A: Normal Hours are Sunday -Thursday: 6:30 am - 10:00 pm
Friday: 6:30am - 11:00 pm
Saturday: 6:30 - 12:00 am

Q: What if we can't arrive or depart during the scheduled hours?
A: Special arrangements can be made for those circumstances, but there will be an additional charge beyond our standard fees. The charges vary depending on the arrival/departure time. Just contact our office during business hours 8:00am to 4:30pm for more information.

Q: When does the Ferry run? How often does the Ferry run?
A: It starts at 6:30 am and runs All day. Check the schedule above. Also check out the "About Us" tab for a video of your ferry trip.

Q: Do I need reservations for the ferry?
A: NO RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED and the ferry ride is a very short trip and is done on an on demand/need basis.

Q: What form of payment do you accept?
A: Cash, Credit Cards, Checks (out of state w/phone #)

Q: What does it cost?
A: Passenger Vehicle is $55

Q: Are there any discounted tickets for multiple trips?
A: There is a coupon book for 10 trips for $400

Q: What if I'm a Palm Island Resort guest?
A: Give your name to the ranger, and you should be on the Resort List for the day.

Q: Is there parking available if I want to leave my car on the mainland?
A: There is public parking on the Panama Blvd entrance road that is county owned and is on a first come basis. There is also a lot available but rental arrangements must be made at the Transit Office during business hours listed above.

Q: Can I access Don Pedro State Park from the ferry?
A: No you can not access the State Park from the ferry but the following website will give you information about accessing the island side of the State Park. www.cayocostaferry.com/don-pedro-island-state-park-info.html

Q: Are there public boat ramps on Palm Island?
A: No but the following websites have information on boat ramps in the area for Charlotte County. Arrangements can be made to park your boat trailer in our secure lot. Ainger Creek Park Boat Ramp and Placida Boat Ramp are the closest to the island and Placida Boat Ramp is a straight shot up the inland waterway to the island.
